TRICIA + AARON | SEPTEMBER 2017
Minnesota Bride Magazine, Fall/Winter 2018 issue
With Trish and Aaron's wedding featured in the current issue of Minnesota Bride, I wanted to share some favorite photos of their cake and dessert display.
This wedding was especially fun to be a part of for a couple of reasons. First, Trish is in the wedding industry herself, and we love to pamper our own! Not only did she have a general knowledge of how everything works, but she also had the opportunity to hand-pick her favorite wedding pros for her big day.
Second, this was a rare case where I was able to provide the cake AND attend the wedding. (Ready for another connection? Aaron is my cousin!) The ceremony was beautifully heartfelt, and the Father-of-the-Bride speech at the reception was so moving that nearly everyone in the room was wiping their eyes. It was really something special!
The reception was held at Solar Arts by Chowgirls in northeast Minneapolis. One of the signature features of this venue is their 15-foot-long dessert table behind a glass-walled room. That's a lot of horizontal space to work with! So, Trish wisely opted for a small cake and cupcakes to serve their guests.
We designed a sweet, single tier cake with a scattered gold leaf design stretching across the front. Pristine Floral added the most beautiful roses and greenery - the perfect finishing touch.
I love gold leaf as a focal point on cake designs. It's elegant and luxurious, but also simple and organic. I'm fascinated by the artistic process, because it comes out slightly different every time. That's something I love - that even if we start with one of my previous designs as the basis, you're still getting something hand-crafted and uniquely yours.
There were also dozens upon dozens of delicious cupcakes - Salted Caramel, Lemon Raspberry, and - my personal favorite - Chocolate Guinness Stout. Trish also added a variety of favorite candies to the mix!
Remember that I mentioned Trish is a wedding and family photographer? Well, she's crazy talented - so after you're done drooling over the dessert photos below, see and follow Tricia's work here!
It takes a village! Here's the team of wedding professionals that made it happen:
PS: Trish is also a talented wedding and family photographer!
