Stephanie + Jacob | December 2016
If I had to choose one photo to summarize the feel of Steph and Jake's winter wedding, this would be it. While their reception was held in an elegant ballroom in downtown St. Paul, the event was designed to feel warm, cozy, and inviting. The room was filled with soft lights and candles, Christmas trees, and bright red holly berries. The glorious scent of fresh pine reached my nose as soon as I walked through the door. Jake and his groomsmen even wore red plaid shirts under their suit jackets. The scene was set for the ultimate north woods Christmas wedding!
Steph wanted a simple wedding cake with a textured buttercream design and one tier covered in 24K edible gold leaf. The addition of fresh pine and holly berries provided the perfect seasonal look and allowed the cake to become an extension of the decor.
Connecting the cake design to the overall aesthetic of the wedding grounds the design and demonstrates its purpose and effectiveness. That's when it become more than "just cake" :)
So, grab a hot chocolate and a cozy blanket to snuggle up in. This gorgeous winter wedding may give you chills ;) Enjoy!
