Frequency Asked Questions
Do you host tastings for wedding cakes?
Yes! You can learn more about our wedding cake tastings and even schedule your appointment directly from our website.
How does the design process work?
First, we'll look at what size cake you'll need based on your approximate guest count. Then, we'll discuss design inspiration. We can use your event's theme, color scheme, decor elements... Maybe you have a beautiful floral bouquet that we can represent in sugar flowers, or a gorgeous invitation suite with a unique pattern or design. Feel free to share any inspirational pieces you may have. You'd be surprised how the smallest details can be translated into a beautiful cake design! We'll absorb all of these details and work to create a clean, cohesive design that reflects not only the aesthetic but the mood of your wedding.
Your cakes are gorgeous, but how do they taste?
Our cakes are made fresh for your event - never frozen. We bake all of our cakes, frostings, and fillings from scratch using quality ingredients. Our frosting is what our clients love the most. We make our Swiss Meringue Buttercream with real butter (no shortening) and fresh eggs. It has a silky flavor, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and just the right amount of sweetness. But why take my word for it? Read what our clients have to say, then schedule your private tasting to judge for yourself!
What if I don't like fondant?
I've tasted bad fondant too, but I would never put something on my cakes that I wouldn't eat myself. My fondant is a house-made marshmallow fondant. In addition to being tasty, it's also super stretchy, which means we can put a very thin layer around your cake. I love working with fondant because it offers a clean and polished finish while opening up an endless amount of design options that aren't possible using buttercream. I'm happy to talk through the pros and cons of each type of finish and advise which is best suited for the look you want to achieve.
How much do your custom cakes cost? Is there a minimum purchase price?
Like any custom product, our cakes are one-of-a-kind, hand crafted, and personally designed. Our cakes are not mass-produced, and they are never baked ahead of time and frozen until needed. Achieving this clean, polished typically takes 15+ kitchen hours. And that's just production time - don't forget client meetings, sketching, planning and preparation, shopping for ingredients, sourcing special tools, and delivering the finished cake.
Since each cake is customized for a particular couple and event, pricing varies greatly depending on the detail and time required to decorate your cake. You can review our minimum pricing guidelines, but please don't hesitate to contact us if you have a more specific question. We can provide you with a better estimate after we know more about the size and style of your cake.
Our pricing reflects the value of our artistry, elegant craftsmanship, thousands' of hours of experience, and a personal level of service. The result is not only a cake that tastes delicious, but a cake that will act as a focal point, a conversation piece, and a memorable aspect of your event. You won't be disappointed!
Do you offer gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan?
Most of our flavors can be prepared for gluten sensitive diets; however, we do not recommend our products for those with serious gluten-allergies. We don't currently offer dairy-free or vegan cakes, but we're not opposed to developing new recipes for our clients! Please let us know if you have special dietary needs.
I have a peanut allergy. Can you make nut-free cakes?
Yes, Enticing Icing is operated out of a peanut-free facility. We don't use peanuts, peanut butter, or other peanut products. If you have another nut allergy, let us know. Everything we create is made-to-order, so we can take precautions to prevent your cakes from coming in contact with your allergen.
How far in advance do I need to order?
Our custom design work takes time and planning, so we appreciate at least 8 weeks' notice for all cake orders. However, if you do have a need on short notice, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are happy to check our schedule and see what we can do for you.
Please note that we only produce 1-2 cakes per week to ensure that we can do our best work for each of the orders we've committed to. Our clients are typically booking their wedding cakes 6-10 months in advance, so if you're considering Enticing Icing as your cake designer, don't hesitate to contact us! We're happy to book your event up to 18 months in advance.
How do we make it official? Do you require a deposit to save my date?
Yes, a $500 non-refundable deposit and a signed contract will reserve your date in our calendar. Our acceptance of your deposit commits us to delivering the cake that we agreed upon. It also protects us in the event of a cancellation or date change, since reserving the date for your event will result in turning away other couples.
What is your cancellation policy?
The deposit required to place an order is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation. Any amount paid in excess of the deposit is refundable up to one month before the date of your event. Once the final payment has been received and your event is less than one month out, we can no longer issue any refund. If, however, you need to change your event date, we will work with you to find another available time within a 6-month time frame.
What types of events do you make cakes for?
We specialize in large, tiered wedding cakes for brides and grooms. We also design cakes for corporate meetings and parties, quinceñeras, and other large events. Due to the high level of customization and labor hours that we pour in to each of our creations, our services are best suited for events with more than 100 guests.
