This blush, gold, and navy wedding cake was designed for a couple whose wedding theme was inspired by Art Deco and The Great Gatsby. The intricate hand-cut geometric design is emphasized by the cake's hexagon-shaped tiers, which provide interesting angles and entice guests to walk around the cake to see them all!
Since copper was offered to me as a material inspiration and not merely a color inspiration, I was careful to choose a design that represented copper as a metal. More difficult was creating a soft, feminine look that would be more universally appealing for a wedding cake design. I finally found inspiration in a lovely copper sink with an embossed floral pattern and created a similar look here in fondant. Finally, I completed the look with a small handmade sugar rose and copper-painted leaf.
